Description
The bulk of the selections on this recording represents several immortal composers in their more human moments, in the form of 24 PARAPHRASES and 18 miscellaneous compositions by Borodin, Cui, Rimsky-Korsakoff and Liadov based on a theme similar to what we call “chopsticks.” Who, for example, would expect to find a “Polka” by the composer of Prince Igor, or a “Fughetta” by the composer of Scheherazade? Equally important, is the fact that while each of these compositions (and all the others in the set) is being performed with two hands, a second player is playing the “chopsticks” melody over and over again as a kind of ostinato.
