Anemone presents one of Bobby Krlic’s most restrained and emotionally charged scores to date, written for the debut feature film by Ronan Day-Lewis. Known for his work under The Haxan Cloak and for scores that thrive on tension and texture, Krlic here leans into fragility – allowing atmosphere, silence, and slow-burn unease to do much of the work. The film is an intimate psychological drama centred on a family attempting to reassemble itself after emotional fracture, and the music mirrors that interior focus. Rather than overt themes, the score unfolds as a series of drifting motifs and shoegaze-inflected soundscapes, swelling and receding like memory itself. It’s a patient, immersive listen, where distortion and melody coexist without ever overwhelming the emotional core of the story. Issued by Mutant in partnership with Back Lot Music and Focus Features, this release captures the full arc of the score across two sides of vinyl. The edition also includes liner notes by writer-director Ronan Day-Lewis, adding further context to the collaboration and the film’s creation.
