With Pepper Adams‘ muscular baritone saxophone, Duke Pearson‘s fluid piano lines, Laymon Jackson on bass, and Lex Humphries on drums, the group delivers a soul-charged, hard-bop set that has long stood as one of Byrd’s most compelling live documents.
