Released in partnership with Neon and Filmtrax, the film follows twin brothers whose discovery of a wind-up monkey triggers a chain of grotesque and increasingly absurd deaths, resurfacing decades later to reopen old wounds and unfinished business. Van Breemen’s music mirrors the film’s tonal balancing act. Whimsical, almost childlike motifs sit uncomfortably alongside sudden surges of tension and dread, with mutilated textures, warped melodies, and elastic rhythms constantly threatening to tip into chaos. It’s a score that never settles, remaining playful just long enough to lower your guard before tightening the screws again.
