Carouselhas been a mainstay of the Pittsburgh rock scene since its very first show in 2011, sharing the stage with localrock, metal and punk bands as wellas touring acts such as Mount Carmel, Purling Hiss and Disappears, all the whiledemonstrating an earth-shaking ability to rock with each and every liveperformance.Carousel’sWheelerandLeger(drummer for Pittsburgh indie-rock icons Karl Hendricks Trio) were previously members of noise-rock trio MagicWolf, whilesecond guitaristChris Tritschleralso plays in the PGH metal band Lady Beast. WithCarousel’s strong pedigree, instantly-memorable two-guitarharmonized lines (not so much like Iron Maiden, more like Wishbone Ash or Thin Lizzy) and rhythmicswing (or “Bill Ward-isms”), the band can easily hold theinterest of punk and metal fans, but add in the charismatic vocals ofWheeler, and it also fits right in at a local yinzer bar. The band’s name is drawn from thefuturistic sci-fi movie “Logan’s Run”and the device in the film that terminates young citizens once they reach the ripe age of 30.Carouselis the epitome of guitar rock. Based solely on the buzz from the successful self-release ofTears of Stone, theirdebut 12” EP,Carouselwas invited to join the Tee Pee Records family. Soon to be armed with a new full-length LP,Carouselnow looks to make its move into the national spotlight.
