Hounds Of Love is the album where Kate Bush turned pop music into something widescreen, strange and completely her own. Written and recorded at her own 48-track home studio, it moves from the thunderbolt opening of “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” through the drama of “Hounds Of Love,” “The Big Sky” and “Cloudbusting,” before flipping into The Ninth Wave – a cinematic, dreamlike suite that still sounds daring decades later. Originally her fifth studio album and second UK No. 1, Hounds Of Love has since been certified double platinum in the UK. Its mix of huge hooks, experimental production and emotional force helped secure its place as one of the defining British albums of the 1980s, but its impact has reached far beyond its era, with “Running Up That Hill” finding a whole new audience and becoming one of Kate Bush’s most recognisable recordings.
